Henry Ford first attempted car manufacturing with the company named “Henry Ford Company” on November 3, 1901, which later became the Cadillac Motor Company. At first, the company produced just a few cars a day at its factory in Mack Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. Groups of 2-3 men worked on each car, building up from components made to order by other companies. Ford later founded the Ford Motor Company on June 16, 1903 which is, today, the world’s fourth largest automaker based on worldwide vehicle sales, behind Toyota, General Motors, and Volkswagen. Ford also introduced the assembly line method of making cars which became known as Fordism around the world by 1914.
